I.
Coach.

In four rooms. A gym floor in Langley. A kitchen table with four kids at it. A software company I am building. And every team I have ever been handed. Same job in all four. Different equipment.

What I actually do

Four rooms.
One job.

Coaching is helping somebody get better at something they already care about. The room changes. The job does not.

01

The gym floor

Campus Athletics

I own a CrossFit gym that has been open since 2008 and I coach in it. I coach alongside my wife Aleksandra, who is also a CrossFit Level 2 and runs the coaching side of the business. Most of the people we coach are in their thirties and forties with a job, kids and one hour a day they can protect. They are not chasing the Games. They want to still be doing this in twenty years.

02

As a father

Four kids · The hardest room

Four children, and the youngest of them has taught me more about pacing, patience and what actually matters than any certification did. Nobody at home asked to be coached and nobody is grading you. It is still the room where I have learned the most about doing it properly.

03

The business

The Digital Intrapreneur · BestBox

I wrote a book about acting like an owner inside a company you do not own. Most people in a business are waiting for permission that is not coming. Coaching an operator turns out to be the same as coaching an athlete: name the thing they are avoiding, scale it until they can do it, then take the scaling away.

04

The org chart

Twenty-five years of leading teams

I have run marketing teams at a Fortune 100, built departments from one person, and been the outside operator brought in to fix a pipeline. Every good manager I ever had was really a coach. Every bad one thought the job was the org chart. That side of it lives here.

The part you have not seen

If you know me
from the gym floor

Before I owned a gym I spent twenty-five years building commerce businesses. I launched e-commerce for a national retailer and grew it past six million a year. I ran global marketing at a Fortune 100 distributor. I have been the outside operator brought in by fast-growing software companies to build a revenue engine that holds up.

Same job as coaching, different room. It is why the software exists and why the gym runs the way it does.

Companies I have worked at or with

See the professional side
The hardest part is walking through the door.

Everything after that is just showing up again. That is true of a gym, a hard conversation, a business you have been putting off, and a habit you have quit four times already.

Stop waiting
for permission

The Digital Intrapreneur is about building things inside a company you do not own. Taking ownership, being useful, and doing the work that actually moves a business, whether or not anyone put your name on it.

Most of what I think happens out loud, on Instagram, in short pieces filmed between things. Training, building, parenting, and the parts nobody puts in the case study.
